I'm Deniz Akçalı, the first woman PADI Course Director based in Türkiye. My professional journey brings together two worlds that may seem very different at first: more than two decades of leadership experience in banking and my passion for diving, education, and developing people.
Throughout my corporate career, I have worked in environments where risk awareness, sound judgment, consistency, accountability, and high professional standards are essential. These experiences have shaped the way I approach instructor development today. I believe good decisions come from understanding risk, thinking clearly, following standards with purpose, and knowing when professional judgment matters.

My goal is to help candidates become instructors who are confident in their knowledge, comfortable making decisions, consistent in applying standards, and capable of taking responsibility for the people they teach and lead.
At the same time, I believe there is more than one way to become a great instructor. Every candidate brings different strengths, experiences, personalities, and ambitions to an IDC. That is why mentorship is at the heart of the way I teach. I want to understand the person behind the candidate, identify where they need support, and help them develop a teaching and leadership style that genuinely feels like their own.
I care about how you do after the IE, as much as what happens during your IDC and your IE. Passing an exam is an important milestone, but becoming an instructor that students trust, dive centers value, and other professionals enjoy working with is a much bigger achievement.

Based between Istanbul and Kaş, I combine year-round professional development with the Mediterranean training environment of southern Türkiye, working with candidates from Türkiye and around the world.
